Em is a space. It’s a space to connect messages to markets, ideas to audiences and companies to communities. It’s the space we build brands we believe in—possibly even a brand you believe in.
What kind of name is Em?
An em is a unit of measurement, the width of a lowercase m. It has a few handy uses in typography, alongside other units such as the “x height” and the “en.” No prizes for guessing what those measure.
An em is also a dash—like these two—used most often in conversational text and Emily Dickinson poems. They’re called em dashes because, surprise surprise, they’re the length of an em.
Em plays a small part of some big concepts. Emotion. Temptation. Demand. Achievement. For such a small word, it tends to find itself in the midst of greatness.
