Member Sales Manager

The Member Relations Sales Manager contributes to the growth and success of the West Orange Chamber by new membership sales, retaining existing members, and promoting the benefits, programs, and services offered by the Chamber. As an integral member of the Chamber team, this position develops and implements strategies to attract prospective members, increase member engagement and event participation, secure sponsorships for Chamber events, encourage the timely payment of membership dues. Works closely with Member Relations Coordinator.
 
Organizational Relationships: Works regularly and routinely with all Chamber staff, volunteer leaders, members, and outside vendors.
 
Budget Responsibilities:  Meeting or exceeding revenue goals for new and renewed membership.
 
Key Responsibilities and Areas of Accountability:
 
1. Lead the Membership Department. Provide leadership and direction for the Chamber's Membership Department, overseeing membership sales, retention, engagement, and other revenue-generating initiatives. Assist in establishing departmental priorities, monitor performance, and provide guidance to the Member Relations Coordinator to ensure exceptional member service and achievement of departmental goals. 

2. Advance the Chamber's Strategic Plan. Work collaboratively with the President & CEO and other staff to implement the goals, objectives, and tactics outlined in the Chamber's Strategic Plan, with primary responsibility for membership growth, engagement, and retention. 

3. Generate New Membership Sales. Develop and execute membership recruitment strategies while prospecting daily for new Chamber members through networking, referrals, community outreach, business visits, events, cold calls, digital platforms, and leads generated by members, Board members, volunteers, and staff. Maintain a qualified sales pipeline to achieve established monthly and annual membership goals. 

4. Develop Executive-Level Business Relationships. Establish and maintain professional relationships with business owners, CEOs, presidents, executive leadership, and key decision-makers throughout the business community. Represent the Chamber with confidence and professionalism while conducting executive-level meetings to identify business needs, communicate the value of Chamber membership, and strengthen long-term partnerships. 

5. Conduct Executive Membership Sales Presentations. Meet with prospective members and organizational decision-makers to assess business objectives, present the Chamber's value proposition, recommend the appropriate membership investment, and successfully close membership sales. 

6. Develop Referral Opportunities. Cultivate relationships with members, Board members, volunteers, community partners, and event attendees to generate qualified membership referrals and expand the Chamber's prospect network. 

7. Oversee Member Onboarding. Direct and monitor the Chamber's onboarding process to ensure every new member receives a professional welcome experience, including welcome communications, development of a Plan of Involvement, introductions, and connections to programs, committees, and networking opportunities.
 
8. Lead Membership Retention and Growth. Develop and implement strategies to strengthen member engagement, improve retention, and increase member investment. Personally manage relationships with key member accounts while supporting the Member Relations Coordinator in day-to-day engagement activities. 

9. Drive Non-Dues Revenue. Lead the promotion and sale of sponsorships, advertising, directory enhancements, event participation, and other Chamber programs that provide value to members while generating non-dues revenue. 

10. Provide Leadership for Member Engagement Programs. Oversee Chamber Connection/New Member Orientation, Meeting of the Minds, and other membership engagement initiatives. Secure sponsors, evaluate program effectiveness, and ensure members understand how to maximize the value of their membership. 

11. Manage Membership Retention Initiatives. Lead monthly retention meetings with staff and volunteers, establish outreach priorities, review renewal metrics, assign follow-up activities, and monitor engagement efforts for members approaching renewal or showing signs of disengagement. 

12. Oversee Membership Resources and CRM. Ensure membership sales materials, marketing collateral, digital resources, prospect information, and CRM records are accurate, current, and effectively utilized to support departmental goals. Maintain accurate reporting and pipeline management. 

13. Monitor Department Performance. Analyze membership trends, sales activity, retention metrics, and revenue performance. Prepare reports and recommend strategies to improve membership growth, engagement, and overall departmental effectiveness. 

14. Achieve Department Revenue Goals. Be accountable for achieving established membership recruitment, retention, advertising, sponsorship, and non-dues revenue goals while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and member service. 

15. Represent the Chamber. Serve as a senior ambassador of the Chamber by representing the organization at executive meetings, community events, business functions, networking opportunities, ribbon cuttings, and other activities that strengthen the Chamber's visibility, influence, and relationships within the business community. 

16. Perform Other Duties as Assigned. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the President & CEO in support of the Chamber's mission and strategic objectives. 

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience in business development, sales, marketing, communications, or a related field.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in membership, sales, business development, fundraising, or account management, with a proven record of achieving revenue goals.
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships and effectively communicate with business owners, CEOs, senior executives, elected officials, and community leaders.
- Strong leadership, consultative sales, presentation, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
- Experience using CRM or membership management software to manage sales activities, reporting, and member engagement.
- Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Valid Florida driver’s license, reliable transportation, and the ability to work occasional evenings and weekends for Chamber events and meetings.
